The water visibility on 2017.08.20 was fairly good even for the mouth of the Kawaihae South Small Boat Harbor , KSSBH. This area as evident on the Google map above is often plagued with sediment. Northwestern island of the Hawaiian chains are under a coral bleaching alert watch. Sea water temperature was cooler at the beginning of June 2017 then June 2016. Overall temperatures cycles are similar.
King tide peaked at 17:07 on 5.26.2017 at Pelekane Bay and at Kawaihae small boat harbor north.
High king tide is visible, though effects of higher than usual tide are not evident since this is a harbor and not a populated area.
Coral colonies replanted on 5.15.17 appear stable.
Recent flash flood from rain storm on April 18, 2017, added more sediment to Pelekane Bay and eroded its beach. The bay width is reduced from 1/4 to 1/3.
